KEY FLIGHT ´89 – The Last Cold War Exercise of the BAOR
1989 made history as the year of the fall of the Iron Curtain. This led to a series of other events that would finally culminate in the disbandment of the Warsaw Pact, the vanishing of the Soviet Union and would also mark the end of the huge NATO field training exercises on West German soil. “Key Flight `89” was the last full troop-strength exercise of the British Army of the Rhine in Germany, involving thousands of soldiers and hundreds of wheeled and tracked vehicles. This publication pays tribute to the British efforts of defending Germany in the Cold War by describing the exercise in detail and providing many hitherto unpublished photographs.
