Description
Fighter Command: 90th Anniversary marks 90 years since the RAF’s Fighter Command was established in 1936, tracing its history from the tense pre-war years through the Battle of Britain, the Second World War and the early Cold War.
This bookazine explores the aircraft – from Hurricanes and Spitfires to Meteors, Hunters, Javelins, Lightnings and Phantoms – squadrons, commanders, pilots and ground crews that made Fighter Command one of the world’s most famous air forces.
It also examines the evolution of radar, tactics and air defence, culminating in Fighter Command’s disbandment in 1968 and the transfer of its responsibilities to RAF Strike Command.
