The 5-ton trucks of the Bundeswehr are the backbone of German military logistics since the 1950s. From 1977 the Mercedes-Benz MB 1017 truck family took over the legacy to become a legend known to all German soldiers serving in the past thirty years. 15,000 MB 1017 trucks were fielded both in the 4×2 and 4×4 configurations and in an almost unbelievable number of variants. This publication tells the story of this Bundeswehr truck legend for the first time comprehensively and lavishly illustrated.
